Industrial PhD scholarships

Metas has recently been granted two research projects on detection, discrimination and quantification of gas and oil in the sea. One project concentrates on monitoring methane and CO2 from bottom seeps, either from natural methane sources or from manmade subsea storage in emptied oil fields. The second project focuses on system development for detection and identification of oil and gas leakage associated with sub-sea production facilities. To support project development METAS have two openings for industry PhD scholarships in marine acoustics.

 

1. Acoustic characterisation of gas and bubbles in the sea with respect to quantification and identification under various environmental conditions (depth, temperature etc).

2. Discrimination of oil and gas from background noise (biological scattering, machine noise etc). SORRY THIS VACANCY HAS NOW BEEN FILLED
